Data Science in one day
Workshop
Data Science: a term that has become impossible to ignore. Or has it already become outdated? We don't think so, which is why we developed our ‘Data Science in One Day’ workshop. We explore questions such as: “Are you making the most of all the data available from your customers, data sources and your own organization?” and “Are you making the most of the opportunities to improve processes and create value for your organization?”
Data Science plays an important role in improving business processes. By combining large amounts of data with domain knowledge, Data Science can help you make better decisions for the future. This requires knowledge from fields such as mathematics, statistics, Operations Research and information technology. This workshop gives you insight into the crucial steps needed to translate business objectives into concrete Data Science projects.
Want to take the next step after this introduction and learn how to successfully apply Data Science within your organization? Take a look at our Data Science for Business training.
Who is it for?
Anyone interested in Data Science ‘Beyond the Hype’ is welcome. The workshop is particularly relevant if you are responsible for exploring or answering the question of how Data Science can create value for your organization. It is also suitable for anyone curious about the role Data Science could play within their organization, such as decision-makers with line responsibility and project managers.
The technical details of methods, models and tools are outside the scope of this introductory training. They are discussed in the context of real-world examples, alongside alternative approaches.
This training is particularly relevant for:
- Managers of Data Science departments
- Entrepreneurs with an interest in Data Science
- Internal and external clients of Data Science teams
- Data Scientists interested in the practical applications of Data Science
- Data Science consultants
The recommended level is higher professional education (HBO+) or equivalent. No prior knowledge of Data Science is required. However, a good understanding of your organization's business objectives and key challenges is important to get the most out of the workshop.
Program
During the workshop, you will gain insight into fundamental and current developments in Data Science and the types of questions that can be addressed using Data Science. The workshop is hands-on: we introduce the theory and then explore it through real-world examples, allowing you to experience what Data Science could mean for your own organization.
- The trainers use real-world project examples to explain Data Science terminology:
- Including CQM projects, such as the projects for which we won the Dutch Data Science Award in 2017 and 2018
- Trends and developments in your sector in relation to Data Science
- You will play the Machine Learning Game to experience how complex algorithms work
- The trainers introduce a step-by-step approach to Data Science projects and illustrate it with practical examples
- You will play the Sales Game to experience how intuition can sometimes fail when making management decisions – and why
- You will work interactively on your own business context:
- Bringing in your own projects and experiences and linking them to Data Science terminology
- Translating your own business objectives into potential projects
- Developing the first steps of your own Data Science project
After this training, you will be able to
