Statistics in R&D

The Ins & Outs of Statistics

260710 Statistics in RD H

The aim of this training is to help R&D engineers draw reliable conclusions from data and design and analyze effective experiments. The training covers the essential ins and outs of statistics and experimentation in an R&D environment, combining theory with practical application. Statistical theory is presented in a way that connects directly to the day-to-day work of R&D engineers.

Many companies encounter a number of recurring statistical challenges without necessarily recognizing them as such. We provide practical, standardized approaches to these common challenges, supported by software. This not only makes statistical methods easier to apply, but also helps create a common language within the organization.

Content

CQM exclusively provides in-company training tailored to the participants' day-to-day work and their organization. To give you an idea, a multi-day training course could include:

  1. Introduction
  2. Basic Statistics
  3. Process Performance
  4. Measurement System Evaluation
  5. Significance Testing
  6. Design of Experiments (DoE) – levels 1 to 7, depending on participants' knowledge and experience
  7. Wrap-up and Evaluation
  8. Certification (optional)

If you need further statistical support after the training, CQM can also provide coaching or consultancy. Wherever possible, we involve the trainer as a consultant. After all, they are already familiar with your employees and the real-world challenges within your organization.

By the end of the training, you will be able to:

  • Understand the value of statistics and DoE for R&D

  • Understand the key statistical techniques and have hands-on experience applying them

  • Understand the basic principles of statistics and DoE, including the risks of using them incorrectly

  • Independently apply statistics and DoE to less complex challenges in your own working environment. For more complex challenges, we recommend coaching or consultancy

  • Work with the CQM_EfP Excel add-in
