Complex challenges require clear insights. At CQM, we believe these insights don’t come from theory alone—but are often gained through experience. That’s why we regularly use serious games in our training sessions and consultancy programmes. Games not only help participants understand complex concepts, but also strengthen collaboration and strategic thinking.

Because we develop many of our games in-house, they are perfectly aligned with the real-world challenges you and your organization face. We’re happy to let you experience first-hand how serious gaming helps solve complex problems.

Why use games?

Our games help you explore the complexity of your challenge in a playful yet impactful way. You gain immediate insight: for instance, by exploring Machine Learning through a game, you gain a better understanding of the underlying processes and trade-offs. You begin to view mathematical models from a new perspective and discover alternative approaches to solving problems.

Which games do we use?

Our offering is broad and tailored to a variety of learning objectives. A few examples:

  • Cooker Test – Experiment with settings in a production process and discover how natural variation and parameter choices affect outcomes.
  • Sales Game – Explore how your actions influence sales performance and learn more about data collection and decision-making.
  • Machine Learning Game – Build your own decision tree and experience how data analysis and classification work in practice.
  • Assignment Game – Find the optimal allocation of service points and see how decision rules and constraints impact results.
  • Warehousing Game – Simulate a logistics challenge and learn how to manage limited resources efficiently.

Tailored to your needs

Our games are always part of a consultancy project, training session, or workshop. They allow participants to gain insights in an interactive way and help make complex topics immediately applicable. By first tackling a problem through play, and then exploring the underlying theory, it becomes easier to make connections and absorb the material.

Our serious games are suitable for a range of group sizes and can be adapted to the specific setting. Most games are played in 4–6 teams of 2–4 participants. Game duration varies from 1–2 hours to a half-day session, depending on the format and available time. This makes them flexible for both short sessions and more in-depth training programmes.
