CQM provides customized training courses in the areas of mathematical optimization, process improvement and statistics. On CQM training courses, the focus is on the day-to-day practices of the participants. The training is given by trainers with consultancy experience. People who not only know the theory but have themselves worked as consultants and therefore clocked up their ‘flight hours’ in the field.

What typifies CQM training:

  • Tailored

Not just in terms of learning objectives, choice of topics, depth, language and software, but also in terms of achieving the right impact within your organization. Which is why CQM doesn’t offer training with open enrollment, but only to a limited 'family group' of participants. 12 participants allows the trainer to maintain good interactive contact with all participants. 16 is the maximum number of participants per training course.

  • Daily work environment

We draw on your own work environment when developing examples, exercises, etc. This ensures that rather than training that’s hypothetical, participants experience how it can be applied in their daily work environment.

  • Practice-related questions

We address the typical questions/problems that arise with certain projects. After all, these are what really matter, more than tools and techniques. The focus during training is therefore on how and when tools and techniques covered in the training can best be employed to get a well-founded answer to questions. We illustrate theory with practical examples, exercises and anecdotes from CQM projects.

  • Coaching and on-the-job training

In addition to the plenary training blocks, participants are coached one-to-one in the direct application of the acquired knowledge within their own projects. This delivers immediate added value for the organization. With coaching, the CQM coach engages with the coachee regarding the project, the steps to be taken, and the application of the tools and techniques.

  • After-training service

All participants (with 80% attendance) have unlimited right to our 'after-training service', which means they can approach the trainer 'life-long' with short training-related questions.

For whom

Obviously we gear the tailor-made training courses to the target group. CQM training courses are generally speaking suitable for employees at university intellectual and work levels.

Teaching materials and certification

All training is backed up with a training folder containing sheets and exercises. Every delegate also gets access to an electronic database via the CQM website, where documents and templates relevant to that course are stored.

If you don’t yourselves have sufficient computers for participants to do exercises during the training, CQM can provide training laptops. If applicable, CQM can also provide the required software for the duration of the training by means of a temporary license.

Certification is optional. Participants who have attended over 80% of a course and completed an aptitude test may receive a certificate. The aptitude test involves doing a 'homework case' or reporting on an application in your own work environment of what you have learnt.

References

ASML - Robert Jan van Wijk, Manager Development & Engineering Business Line Applications:

CQM have developed two statistical training courses with ASML, at basic and advanced levels. What makes them special is that delegates immediately apply the statistical techniques presented within an ASML context. All exercises are based on use cases taken from practice.

Philips - Erik Houbolt, Innovation Lead Oral Healthcare:

The Tolerance Design Training and Tolerance Design tool are embraced by the Philips Oral Healthcare development team in Bothell (US). The training integrates the application of Tolerance Analysis seamlessly into the Product development process. The Tool helps standardize the analysis per development phase, which brings focus to the quality of work. This benefit is recognized by the development teams and functional management.

Océ - Jon van den Reek, Master Black Belt:

We have been using DMAIC for some 10 years as an improvement tool in our factories in Venlo, the Netherlands, in particular to address our most difficult challenges. It has really helped us structure the improvement process. CQM has for years now been our regular partner in training (and certifying) our Green and Black Belts. They do so with training specifically geared to our company. This means we can train people in a very goal-oriented and effective manner.

FrieslandCampina - Martin Wijsman, Manager R&D Academy quotes course delegates:

- As I had taken statistics in college, it was nice to get a refresher and have some real use of it via the excel add-ins. Most statistics work that I have done has mainly been theoretical, so it was nice to be able to produce graphs and focus on analyzing them. The excel add- in CQM_EfP is great and I think will be very useful for a lot of the work that will need to be done in the future.

- I would like to request more training like this with CQM. Statistics are having more of a crucial role in R&D. A more robust understanding of statistics is needed in order to communicate data and results with others.

- Instructor was great. Used the correct learning tools to get the information across to the students.  (...) it was a nice training course and I learned a lot.
