I like to clarify and intuitively explain problems with mathematics. For me, the ideal project contains both a mathematical challenge and real practical relevance. I also found this beautiful combination in my PhD research (at Tilburg University), on optimization of radiotherapy treatments for cancer patients.
Distinguish main form side issues together with the customer: this way we arrive at solutions that are no easier than necessary, but also no more difficult. I get energy from working with enthusiastic people, both customers and colleagues. If everyone is equally interested and involved, you can achieve real impact. I especially like to work on optimization issues and I like variety in my work. That is why I am happy that I can work on very diverse projects at CQM!
